The AdvocateWeb Team

AdvocateWeb is the result of the inspiration and support of many different people.  Here is an introduction to the full AdvocateWeb Team.

President, Chief Executive Officer
Cindy Boling

Cindy has been an outstanding supporter of AdvocateWeb and victim advocate. As a survivor of exploitation by a physician, Cindy has found this horrific experience has given her a deep sense of purpose, and she is now making a tremendous positive difference in the lives of countless other victims.   Cindy has over twenty years of experience as an investigative paralegal, and brings to AdvocateWeb many wonderful gifts in being a persistent, motivated, creative, innovative, compassionate, and resourceful leader. Pursuing greater public awareness and empowering victims through education is a passion of Cindy's. Cindy has also done a lot of work to help organizations like the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners be more aware of victims' concerns, and has been a consistent advocate for greater patient safety.

Founder
Kevin Gourley
Kevin has over two decades of experience in software industry and has been involved in the development of the Internet since its inception. He has many years experience working with nonprofit organizations and community service groups. His love of people and passion for serving the community, combined with his broad experience in Internet technologies, has led him to be an "evangelist" in promoting the use of the Internet in building online communities and in advancing community service initiatives through the use of new technologies.  Having personally witnessed the impact of professional sexual exploitation on someone very close, and being moved by the stories of many other survivors, Kevin created AdvocateWeb in 1998.   He has devoted much time and effort in networking with leading experts and advocates regarding the topic of professional sexual abuse, and has diligently worked to build this thriving online support community at AdvocateWeb for victims and professionals, while also successfully pursuing tougher laws and policies to deter this abuse.  He also works with numerous other consumer advocacy groups and non-profit organizations across the world to assist in this goal.
Kevin also operates a web development consulting business and is an accomplished photographer.

Volunteer Coordinators, Job Description

Objective: AdvocateWeb intends to excel at maintaining up-to-date resources for sexual exploitation victim/survivors, victim advocates, professionals, churches, other institutions, professional organizations, and the media.
Roles: We have created these Volunteer Coordinator roles to allow us to have a designated person focused on ensuring that we do the best we can at meeting our general objective in various areas.    As a Coordinator, your most important role is to help us stay up-to-date on our resources made available on our website.
Scope: By dividing these responsibilities, the intent is to make these manageable, reasonably-sized, volunteer roles.  We realize everyone has busy lives!  The scope of your work may only take a few hours per month.   As a Coordinator you will be helping us watch for new resources or information of interest to the public, seek new articles we might wish to add, advise when items should be removed, provide information we might include in our eNewsletter, etc.   You are an advocate for greater public awareness and greater resource availability, and the primary vehicle is through the AdvocateWeb website, but may also include personal interaction as well.  To the extent that you have time to do so, we also encourage you to actively seek broader participation in the work of AdvocateWeb or in collaborative efforts.     We also encourage you to think of ways of involving others to help you in this work.  You don't have to do it all yourself.  You can build a team of people to help you if you want!
Assistance: To facilitate serving in these roles, Coordinators are provided an AdvocateWeb.org email address.  We will make these addresses available to the public so that people can more readily reach you regarding these topics.  You will be granted direct access to private email groups to confer with other experts and victim advocates, as well as to our Advisory Council if you need the advice and insights of this diverse group of professionals, victim advocates, and experts.   As a part of the AdvocateWeb Team you also can confer with others on the Coordinator Team, plus you have the support of our President and webmaster in your endeavors. Regarding updates to our website, all you need to do is send emails regarding the changes necessary and we will do the website updates.  You don't have to have any web technical skills!.  Also, if you have any special needs of assistance, we're always here to help you.
Term: These Volunteer Coordinator roles have 2 year renewable terms.

If you have questions regarding the AdvocateWeb Team or organization, please contact Kevin Gourley [ kevin.gourley@advocateweb.org ]
