It’s not just the exploitation -
it’s what happens when the exploitation is over.
The perpetrator sets you up
to be rejected even more;
to look like the aggressive one
while he claims he had a moment of weakness.
You feel as though you are the traitor.
After all, he still attends church
while you are no longer welcome.
You blame yourself.
He blames you.
But the truthful reality is…
He is the perpetrator; he is the exploiter.
He is the betrayer; he is the traitor.
He is the responsible party to hold accountable.
He was the aggressive one, however covert.
He was weak
but not for just a moment;
He is always weak,
for corruption is born out of weakness.
You are hurting and vulnerable,
that’s why he chose you.
You are kind, caring and trusting.
He is not, and mistakenly sees those qualities as weakness,
so he set out to destroy them.
And since he detests his own weakness,
he will eventually destroy himself.
You have substance,
he is a body without a soul.
You are worthy of love,
he is unable to love.
You have a heart,
he sees no need for one.
Perhaps your heart is broken and crushed,
but the fact that it is beating
quietly proclaims your strength.
Have you found the courage you never thought you had?
If not yet, you will.
As more and more people become aware that this is
professional exploitation,
a crime against society,
-- not just an ‘indiscretion,’
you will be able to feel safe again, trust again,
hope again, live again.
